Quiz Templates

Best practices for quiz settings

Within quiz edit mode, there are numerous settings on how to present a quiz. In earlier courses, OHWA established best practices for a variety of quiz styles, and templates have been created to reflect those settings.   Templates can be quickly added to your quiz to match one of the following quiz styles listed below.

 

Templates currently available

Standard 5 Question Randomized

  • Used for module review quizzes,
  • Shows 5 questions out of however many you have added to quiz.
  • Requires 80% or above to pass and proceed.
  • Can adjust the number of questions after loading the template, but 5 is ideal.
  • Retakes are allowed till passed

Pre-Assessment

  • Used for early knowledge assessment,
  • User can not retake these
  • Does not require a passing grade to progress
  • Can adjust the number of questions after loading the template
  • Max question should be 15 questions are displayed

Post-Assessment

  • Used for end knowledge assessment
  • User can not retake these
  • Does not require a passing grade to progress
  • Can adjust the number of questions after loading the template
  • Max question should be 15 questions are displayed

Finals

  • Used for end-of-course exam
  • Shows 15 questions,
  • Can adjust the number of questions after loading the template, but 15 is ideal.
  • Requires 75% or above to pass and proceed.
  • Retakes are allowed till passed

 

How to add a template

  • When in quiz edit mode, go to the Settings section.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page till you see Quiz Templates.
  • Select a template from the toggle, click upload, then save the quiz.

How to update a Quiz Template

Note that updates only apply to future quizzes you apply the template. They do not affect previous quizzes. Those will have the previous settings.
